Robert Irwin reveals new role with William’s Earthshot Prize

Robert Irwin has been named a Global Ambassador for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize.
Robert, 20, participated in the event in Singapore in 2023, attending the ceremony with his then-girlfriend Rorie Buckley.
Now, he will join South African actress and humanitarian Nomzamo Mbatha as one of the inaugural Earthshot Global Ambassadors.

The Earthshot Prize website describes Robert as a “passionate wildlife photographer, television host, and conservationist”.
“Robert Irwin has been deeply involved in numerous projects aimed at preserving natural habitats and protecting endangered species,” it says.
“His deep connection to the natural world and his ability to inspire others through his advocacy make him an invaluable ambassador in the fight to safeguard our planet’s biodiversity.”
Irwin said in a statement that he was “honored to join Nomzamo . . . to help place a brighter spotlight on the inspiring changemakers saving the planet.”
“The Earthshot Prize is a beacon of hope for all of us who care about the environment and about our ability to ensure a livable future for ourselves and future generation,” he said.
“Healthy oceans, ecosystems, and species equal a healthy planet, and The Earthshot Prize recognises the importance of investing in and helping grow solutions that protect these critical resources.

Robert grew up in the family business, Australia Zoo, alongside mum Terri and sister Bindi.
He has followed in his father’s footsteps.
The late Steve Irwin was a revered conservationist, making his name on the TV series The Crocodile Hunter before his untimely death in 2006 at the age of 44 after he was stung by a stingray during filming.
Robert was just two years of age and Bindi was eight.
Terri, Robert and Bindi remain dedicated to their animal conservation foundation, Wildlife Warriors, which works to protect endangered species through Australia Zoo.

Prince William launched the Earthshot Prize in 2020 to help promote and support global conservation initiatives.

The program aims to award leaders, entrepreneurs, and businesses in five key categories: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World and Fix Our Climate.
This year the Earthshot Prize has expanded to include global ambassadors to join the existing members which include Queen Rania of Jordan, actress Cate Blanchett, broadcasting legend Sir David Attenborough, business leader Indra Nooyi, and designer Stella McCartney.
They will work alongside Prince William to promote global conservation effors.
The upcoming Earthshot Prize ceremony will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, this November.
